Funding the Railway 

Moorland & City Railways Ltd is a private limited company owned by a small group of individual shareholders who, so far to date, have provided all the company’s capital by way of a series of share acquisitions.

This process is continuing with the impending acquisition of up to 10% of MCR’s  share capital by the Churnet Valley Railway, funded by their current share issue.  Launched at the end of March, their share issue and prospectus have been a great success and, in the short time since its opening, over £250,000 has been raised.  The issue will remain open until 30^th September 2011.  For full details see:

It is expected that MCR’s commercial objectives will have advanced sufficiently within the next year to enable it to take advantage of its substantial asset value and introduce bank loan funding into its overall financing.  From this point onwards it is anticipated that the majority of MCR’s ongoing funding for the remainder of the project will be through the banking sector.
